Little mercies...

I didn't set out to write a blog with a central 'focus' in mind; simple ramblings here and there would have just done fine. However, I've realized that I can never write that way. For me, God is my central 'focus' and my inspiration! that's said...

The other day, I had an accident with an 'okada' - (motorcycle used for commercial purposes) - and gosh was I very upset. One 'nonsense' man opened the door to his 'fine' jeep without a thought in order to fight another driver stalling traffic-(typical Lagos scenario)-as we were approaching. Me & my okada rider rammed into the suddenly opened door. My first thought: mschewww...God, not again! when will this 'rubbish' stop ehn! I need a 'fine' car o!...Complain 101.

I didn't remember to thank God that I left the scene,on my own, with only a bruised 'ego'... Some people left similar circumstances with broken or severed limbs, head smashed like watermelons, but I walked away on my own two feet,no bruises, no cuts, nothing! Then I realized, God did save me, it could have been worse.

Most times, it's not always about the 'big' things you have or don't have... but the little mercies that are evident in our daily lives...

It's only by the MERCY of GOD that we are here.

So folks stall for a minute and think about the 'little' mercies of God and get your praise on!

Borrowing the words of Kurt Carr's song 'For every mountain':

For waking me up this morning
That's why I praise You
For starting me on my way
That's why I praise You
For letting me see the sunshine of a brand
new day
A brand new mercy along with each new day
That's why I praise You
For this I give You praise.

You're Jehovah Jireh
That's why I praise You
You've been my provider
That's why I praise You
So many times You met my need, So many times You rescued me
That's why I praise You
I wanna thank You for the blessings You give to me each day
That's why I praise You
For this I give You praise...

In this thought be comforted...

I woke up this morning with mixed feelings about life, God etc. I've often asked myself time and again, "Why does God allow his beloved children to go through trials?"

You lose that well paying job, someone breaks your heart again!, you' re currently facing eviction & you have no where to source for funds to move to a new apartment and so on , so you ask yourself, 'why me' again?

Can't we do without trials in our lives? The answer is sadly 'NO'. Truth is, we can never grow in strength and character without trials; in trials we discover new aspects of ourselves, we realize strengths that we never knew we had, we become resilient and our creative side is usually stirred up and heightened, we become wiser and most times draw closer to God. Yes! most times, trials come to catch our attention and focus it on God.  We are most times carried away with the frivolities of this life, that we need this 'shock therapy' to focus us on what's most important - GOD.It's not usually a palatable time but as Gold goes through fire to get better, we usually come out better for it.

I've had & still have my share of trials...some are easy to bear, while some are hard to endure but as Yolanda Adams (a gospel artiste) aptly puts in one of her songs: "...In the middle of what seems to be your darkest hour, hold fast your heart and be assured. For this too shall pass, like every night that's come before it. He'll never give you more than you can bear..."

In this thought be comforted...

Wish I were Perfect...

The Perfect 'Curves'
        The Perfect 'Man'
                The Perfect 'Life'
                       The Perfect 'this'
                              The Perfect 'that'...

But do we really need to be "perfect"??? Don't think so!!!

We are most times are worst enemies. We browbeat ourselves whenever we fail to be perfect... We expect so much from ourselves that we fail to realize we are humans after all.

Nothing truly is PERFECT!!!

Models with the "Perfect Curves" constantly complain about their bodies that's why cosmetic surgeons are making millions today...
The "Perfect Man", turns not to be so perfect after he hits you...

The "Perfect Life" is not so perfect when it comes out you've been living a lie

Trying to be Perfect is alot of work, being Perfect an almost impossible task...just be the best you can be wherever, whenever...
